Tu vs Vous
French has two words for our subject personal pronoun "you,"
and they are "tu" and "vous."
So, when do you use either one of them?
Very simple: when you talk to one friend, a relative or a pet,
you use "tu."
In all other cases (a person whom you'd address as Sir, Ma'm, Mrs, Miss),
and anytime
when "you" implies more than one person--plural)
you must use "vous."
Practice--would you use "tu" or "vous" in the following:
Your friend Arnold -------------------------------------------------(tu)
Your grandma-------------------------------------------------------(tu)
your teacher---------------------------------------------------------(vous)
Your friends Laura and George--------------------------------(vous)
Your pet cow Geraldine------------------------------------------(tu or: MOOOOOOOOOO!)
Your Mom and Dad-----------------------------------------------(vous)
